Forty-Seventh Annual Report of the Bridgeport Protestant Widows' Society (Organized December 10, 1849). Constitution and By-Laws, Rules and Regulations of the Sterling Widows' Home. Society Chartered April 28, 1853. Home Built, 1884.

The object of this Society is for the benevolent purposes of providing a Home and assisting worthy Protestant Widows of Bridgeport. Said Society may assist indigent unmarried females over the age of eighteen years. Any Protestant Widow of good moral character wishing to enter the Home must make application to one of the Executive Committee, making a full statement of her circumstances, and if afterward it shall be found that deception has been used, such person shall forfeit her privilege to remain in the Home.
