While it is almost impossible to secure records of the earlier organizations a perusal of the ancient files of The Oxford Times shows that the OXFORD TYROLEAN BAND discoursed sweet music at a 4th of July celebration in 1842, also on May 12, of the same year the Band played at a great temperance mass meeting held in Oxford.
